Houston’s Premier Injury Therapy and Sports Massage
Bodysmith specializes in Sports Massage and Therapeutic Bodywork for Pain Management from a holistic point of view. We will address your current symptoms while also working towards the source of the tension or pain by using multiple techniques to address your areas of stiffness and pain whether it is chronic or acute, in the soft tissue, muscles, or joints.
Through my experience, I have found numerous techniques and methods of activating the weaker muscles and calming the overactive muscles for optimum performance, relaxing the nervous system, releasing areas of tension, and helping you to start re-establishing correct neural pathways for better posture and less or no pain.
I can help you with your pain using postural assessments from a holistic point of view as mentioned earlier. This means we are going to work with you where you are at in that moment as we work towards your personal goals by working with your fascial and nervous systems. I also work with people before/after surgery relieving fascial restrictions allowing for a faster recovery.
The main assessment techniques I use come from four main systems: Integrated Manual Therapy (Orthopedic Massage), Anatomy Trains, NASM Personal Training and Qi Gong (Chinese Medicine).
Whether you are looking to reduce muscle and joint pain, improve circulation and flexibility, work on improving posture and body mechanics, or addressing any new or old injuries, Bodysmith is here for you. We are now located off Stella Link inside The Zone, upstairs in the Fitness Center.
Bodysmith provides Therapeutic Bodywork along with Kinesio Taping and Massage Cupping. We are located in Memorial Park off Westcott St. in Salt Power Yoga Studio.
Orthopedic Massage and Therapeutic Bodywork techniques focus more around an individual’s joints, muscle tension, fascial restrictions, and joint range of motion. It is a unique approach using a combination of techniques with the goal of restoring structural balance and proper biomechanics.
Sports massage begins with a complimentary consultation to see where you are at in that moment to be able to create a custom treatment plan for your individual needs. Sports massage is typically used pre, during, and post events as well as for maintenance during the off season. The type of bodywork that will be applied will depend on whether the athlete is in the pre-performance, maintenance, or rehabilitative stage and will be customized to their sport or event giving the client an extra edge on the competition.
Cupping therapy is a technique where cups (in this case silicone) are used to create a negative pressure where the fascia can be gripped and stretched. By creating suction and vacuum pressure, Massage Cupping can be used to soften tight muscles, loosen attachments and adhesions, and increase blood flow to areas of pain and discomfort.
Kinesio Tape, also called Kinesio Tex Tape is the original elastic adhesive tape developed to help by facilitating the body’s natural healing process and prolonging the benefits of the treatment outside the clinic. Kinesio Tape has hundreds of ways it can be applied depending on the individual’s assessment. Some of these methods are for acute or chronic pain, rehabilitation of an injury, increasing joint range of motion, taking tension and pressure off any painful areas, improving posture, and assisting with the prevention of repetitive movement and future injuries.
